Yesterday was the birthday of Juliette Gordon Howe, the founder of the Girl Scouts. Here's a related stamp that I have.
So familiar are the 3c and 4c commemoratives that they all seem like old friends. This is one of my favorites as is the Boy Scouts issue.
Hello all, my stamps of the day. India 1882-1888 - Four Anna, Olive Green and Slate Green. Regards, James.
I love the minimalist design of this Scott 1179 from 1962, commemorating the Battle of Shiloh that occurred during the U.S. Civil War. Shiloh is in Tennessee and hosted a lot of carnage for several days.
Hello Gunny, a beautiful stamp, the artwork, in England we would call a "Pen & ink" drawing. I love it. Regards, James.

Hello all, these are the sample texts in the catalogue. I believe I know what I have but I would like a professional opinion. Next time I visit Bangkok I'll go to the Postal museum at Phaya Thai (BTS - Saphan Khwai) where I can examine their samples and talk to the professionals. Regards, James.
Hello all, This is a Penny Red cover from my UK collection. Posted 4 April 1864 from Coldstream, Scotland for next day delivery to Durham, England. Unfortunately, I do not have the letter that it contained. Regards, James.
My stamp of the day is a double impression. I found this particular one on Ebay, but I do own a couple of them myself. The offset printing process seems to have spawned several of these http://www.ebay.com/itm/US-535a-3c-...229013?hash=item1c5af71ed5:g:HMEAAOSwA4dWGvTd
