Your Stamp of the Day

Here's a Scott 185 Zachary Taylor I picked up recently. Is it bad that the ink has bled over in to the margins?

 

No, that's quite common for the issue. Really nice stamp.

 

Check out the margins on this Scott 65. Nice.

Here's a Scott 746. I like the Black & White of this stamp.

 

Black stamps have a classy, elegant look about them. I have read of "black" topical collections. Several hundred all-black stamps may be overdoing it, however.

The U.S. does present some stamps with bizarre colors. Here are a couple that are a little hard on my eyes.

 

I always liked the Monroe stamp although the color is a bit bright. The Handy stamp is a little harder on the eyes. Nicely centered Monroe!

 

Since it was Mick's birthday a few days ago my stamp of the day is this Austrian stamp featuring Mick in performance mode.

 

He's probably always in Performance Mode. I can't picture him lounging around in jeans and a T-shirt.

 

A person has to be a lot younger than I am to appreciate those guys!

Here's a Scott 188. Do you agree that the date cancel is March 18th? Could be March 28th? Starting a date cancel set and want to make sure of the date.

 

Difficult to say which it is. I'd choose another stamp with a clearer cancel.

I agree with Don. The first "number" almost looks like a ghost "8", perhaps it is a "fluke" from an early hand-cranked cancelling machine.
