Very nice looking stamp Gunny. I'm waiting on a bunch of stamps from StampStore myself. How do you rate the experience?
Great experience. Discount for being a member and the stamps arrived 4 days after I ordered them. Packaging was awesome as well, no way there were going to be damaged in the sturdy cardboard envelope they arrived in. I'll be using it again.
I have probably 40 or so purchases under my belt and I have satisfied with the stamps, the descriptions given by the sellers and the service offered by APS each and every time. I usually do 3-4 orders a year. I have also used the certification process a couple of times. It adds a couple of weeks to the process, but having the cert adds value and peace of mind, at least where a higher value stamp is concerned.
I've been researching Certification/Authentication services. I have some PSE slabbed stamps but haven't sent any in myself. I didn't know that you could stamps in the APS Stamp Store authenticated when you make a purchase. Good thing to keep in mind. One of the stamps I bought was $35.00, another was $12.00 and the other under $10.00. When the time comes to make a serious purchase, I'll want it authenticated.
Yes, it's a great feature that a buyer can choose to have a stamp at the StampStore authenticated at the time of purchase. One purchase I made comes to mind. I purchased one of the rarer Schermack privately perforated vending stamps. I wanted to make sure the "slotted" perforations were legitimately done and the extra $25 was well worth the cert.
Here's the second stamp from my first APS Store purchase. A rather well detailed Scott 65. Nice blue cancel to boot.
The last of the three stamps that I got from the APS Stamp Store is this Scott 68. Almost didn't get it because of the cancellation, but in the end I simply liked it.
The stamp is nicely centered and the cancellation doesn't detract from the portarait. Great acquisition Gunny.
I found it interesting that the ink from the cancellation highlights the texture of George's coat. Almost thought it was a partial fingerprint at first.
That is a nice color Gunny. I think it is supposed to be claret, but it reminds me of the carmine lake shade found on other U.S. stamps.
My lowest numbered Scott to date is this Scott # 7 that just arrived. I'm a little bit excited by this one.
That's a beauty Gunny, I love those imperforate Franklins. I only wish I could afford more of them. Anyway, the answer to your question is this, the stamp is a semi-postal issue which means it raises 1c for a particular charity. Perhaps Zee has a catalog and can tell us the charity.
here is an article on the US semi-postals. We use a different accounting method ( of course), so no '+1' of notation. http://alphabetilately.org/G3.html
