I continue to seek covers of well-know stamp dealers of days-gone-by. Most of them are posted to collectors and often offer interesting stamp usage. This Souren cover is certainly not too impressive, but it is the only one I've spotted which wasn't one of his FDC covers. A nice wax seal although I cannot tell if it is embossed. Y.Souren, like many of his Golden Age contemporaries was apparently a very interesting fellow with an impressive inventory of stamps. Here a link about him: https://invertedjenny.com/owner/99 And also a brief story from Herman Herst: http://www.state-journal.com/2012/1...man-pat-herst-jr-stamp-dealer-above-the-rest/ The top of my stamp dealer cover wishlist now: George Sloane, Ezra Cole, John A. Fox.
That's a fine looking cover! The accompanying articles were interesting. Souren comes off somewhat paranoid and abrasive, though.
I finally found a John A. Fox cover. Perhaps the recipient, Mr. Starr, purchased one of Mr. Fox’s more creative efforts. See here on John A. Fox’s career as stamp dealer and forger: http://d2jf3tgwe889fp.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/218pp147-163.pdf - A long read but very interesting.
