This stamp has a catalogue value of 6000Euros in used condition.I found this on a popular web site selling for 384USD.There is no mention of any defect .At first , I thought there was a large ink stain covering the stamp but it appears there is a large portion of the stamp missing.Would be interested in hearing opinions about buying this. I assume this must be Sc. 87, the 1c black on Prussian blue paper. The damage is too much for me. Even if I collected this stamp series, which I don't, I would pass on purchasing it.

If it is Sc.87 (Michel does not give it it´s own number, but lists it
as a printing error) expert authentication is a must.Without that,
it is fair to assume, that it is colonies Sc.46.
I personally think,a collector with some self-respect,will better
like an empty space, than to fill it with such a wreck. But I also
know, that in parts of the anglophone world ideas about quality
    are different.
If however the "wreck" is an authentic Sc.87,it might be of
    interest for an experts reference-collection.
The price should be in the range of 1 % catalogue-value,plus
    the fees for authentication.

As you say, expert authentication is a must. There is no mention of that in the sellers listing.

Anglobob, I wouldn't buy it. The price isn't realistic for the catastrophic damage the stamp has. I have paid 6% of catalog for a pulled perf, not a large missing chunk.
