Found this in a collection of stamps that I receive. They are wine labels from Bordeaux, France. Looks like they are from the early 1900's, if I am reading the labels correctly. Anyone wants them, let me know. View attachment 513
I didnt mention that part, they were attached to full bottles but somehow the bottles got empty. hmmmmm lol
I'm going to be honest here and say that those look like modern labels and not from old bottles from the early 1900s. Just because a winemaker won a prize in the 1911-1914 period, that doesn't mean that they won't milk that award for the next hundred years or that the bottle is from then. I see those old award insignias on many beers, mineral waters, cologne bottles and even other wines here in Europe. Kind of adds a classic look. Was the wine any good is the real question????
Did not have the pleasure of drinking the wine. I found the labels in a box of stamps that I bought. lol
Kris, If you still have the labels, my wife will take them. She is making a collage of wine labels on a much to big frame, she may break me drinking the wine and soaking off the labels off the bottles. Now she buys wine because she wants the label for her collage. Bill
Sorry Bill, Sold them on ebay for $4. If I come across anymore, I will save them for you. Do you want labels from newer bottles? If so, I will try and save them for you, from the bottles that my wife and I drink. lol
as someone who makes his own wine I appreciate the cost of fancy labels, even how attractive some bottles are, does anyone collect bottles?
Wine Labels, music, football, reading, cigarette cards, boys magazines, who ever said Philatelists were dry and dull, we encompass so many other interests as well
This friend has shelves covering every wall of a project room, makes the room much smaller. the shelves start beneath the ceiling and go down to the skirting on all four sides, he goes to rubbish sites and digs to find old bottles he has found bottles that date back to the birth of glass........
