What's the most you've spent on a stamp?

What is the largest amount you've paid for a single stamp? Do you think it was worth it?

How much would you be willing to pay for a coveted item?

I think almost 2 dollars for a stamp.
If ever I have a stamp with price higher than that, it was such given by friends especially those who really do not collect stamps but have some in their old mails. :D

I have spent some coin at a few auctions, but I think the most for a single stamp has to be around $500. Yes, I was happy with the stamp and happy with the price. I think that is the upper limit of what I would spend for a stamp. I have actually spent more money on a coin, than a stamp.

I spent over $300.00 US for a used United States #1 in the mid 1980's. It is in vf condition and a very light cancel.

My choice was a savings bond or the stamp, it took me three years to save up for it. The saving bond was paying 2.3% while the same years the stamp was going up in value by 8%. I'm not rich, just did it as an investment for my old age.

There's no doubt that extremely rare stamps have investment potential. That stamp is a real winner!
