The longest item on any of my "wish lists" isn't a stamp at all. It's a 1793 large U.S. cent piece. As for the stamp(s) on my want list that would have to be the Germany IPosta souvenir sheet.

Mine will be all the stamps issued for the Olympics. Not sure how many are there though. :p

I have been wanting to collect more Presidential stamps from decades ago. I have several, but there are so many. Some of them I'm more interested in than others, like the ones worth a lot of money!

    Welcome to the forum.

I assume you're talking about the 1938 US presidential series. Worth a lot of money or cost a lot? Used copies don't cost a lot. Some of the mint hi-values ($1 & up) can be a little spendy. Wait until ya gotta have the set in MNH plate blocks !

OK - so I've more or less completed most of my 'coin' purchases to finish some sets (Barber dimes/quarters/halves & Morgan $'s), so I guess I can go back 'squandering' my money on stamps. Looking to complete the 1894 Columbus set - need all the dollar denominated stamps in that series.

  8. I have always wanted some Brazilian stamps. I love the color scheme on most of them. Next year, I am going to Brazil for a vacation. I will pick up as many as possible.

For me this was the Elvis Presley "Return to Sender" stamp. I was 16 when I had gotten this stamp after a long wait. As a 16 year old boy who collected stamps I was pretty thrilled!! It was so cool especially after the long wait.

I'd love to have a very fine used Australian £1 blue and brown roo first watermark for my collection but the $2000 or so I'd need means that this isn't very likely to happen. :singing:

Fortunately there are lots of less expensive roos which I continue to acquire and which bring a smile to my face.

I have some used US (maybe some foreign??) stamps I will trade if you want them...:joyful: different years, Summer and Winter.

MY wish list has had a set of Zeps on it for many years. Every time a good MINT XF set comes up on the auctions, I get overbid... I have started advertising in some venues for 'collections' and we'll see what comes up.

Something else y'all might do: I have my name and number in the Post Offices around some smaller towns, offering to buy stamp collections. The Post Office won't buy them but they will pass your name as an 'interested party'. I have bought two small collections in the last year, both with some sheets, blocks, etc -- all MINT. And yes, a couple of nice finds. I give a little under book or twice face, whatever $$ is higher.

Might try BidStart.com as well... I buy about 60% of my stuff off of there and have learned a lot of the sellers that are honest. You can go to any page, click on the 'Feedback' number and see what everyone is saying about that seller. I have only been 'disappointed' a couple of times, and I have been paid back every time I have asked.

And because most of them are licensed with ASDA and want to spread the hobby, they post with older stamps that are then collectible in themselves... WHAT A DEAL!!! :woot:

I finally 'bit the bullet' a couple of years ago and bought an XF MNH set of Zepp's. Cost? $1700. They didn't even make into my album- they're locked up in one of my fireproof safes

I'm about ready for the twin to that bullet... I know they won't get any less expensive, but I am hot on the heels of a #293 to finish up my Trans-Mississippi set and then I will go for the Zepps.

Every so often I see them show up in the auctions but then I get cold feet...
