My whole family thinks it's great. They support me with everything, thus they also support me in my stamp collecting hobby. My smaller cousins are also very interested in them and their history. Of course, there are also some douchebags that think stamp collecting is only for nerds. But hey, everyone has the right to have an opinion. What about you? Do they think it's cool, or boring?
Some in the family and friends think it was great, some think its good and some would just say okay and then will change the topic.
My wife is supportive, my family approves and my friends don't care one way or another. I enjoy the hobby and that is all that matters.
Except other hobbyists, people generally don't care. I don't share it much locally because I don't want to be a target for robbery, not that I have anything worth taking.
No one really cares. My BF picks on me, but it's mostly in good fun, I think. He just thinks that I have an old person's hobby. Oh well...there are much worse hobbies out there that I could have.
Not sure what other replies you mean ! as for what others think I honestly dont care I enjoy what I do and that is all that matters as for it been a old persons hobby well I started very young with a couple of breaks.
I do not collect coins or Banknotes but are in Awe at looking at the well presented ling in Steve Robinsons post above. So immediately I think of the valued time and timed money invested to collect these and can only look in Awe. Any other misguided thoughts may only conjure ignorance.
All of my friends think I am a loser for collecting stamps. They say that I am too young to have this hobby. They don't realize that me an my grandmother have been doing this since I was a little girl. I find it fun and a good collectors item.
Most people don't know anything about stamp collecting and I usually get a smile and a patronizing "Oh, that sounds interesting." Don
HAHA! That is SO similar to what I used to get. I put mine away for almost 20 years! I dug it out of my "stuff" closet a couple of days ago and was pulled into it again. Just staring for hours at them. I have no doubt that I'll still get that "hmmm...thats nice, so ANYWHO like I was saying....:
Not long ago I finally found someone who share a stamp collecting hobby as well. It was great and all, but the others don't actually share our enthusiasm for stamps. There's this time we went to a local bookstore, trying to find new stamp book and books about stamps......We tried asking the employees, and I swore some of them got that "pity smile" ...... Oh well, to each their own I guess. I think it's better if we try not to make fun or look down on those who share a love for something that we don't have a passion for.
It's very nice that some of you found a stamp collecting mate. I know the feeling, sadly it didn't last very long.
