Probably no stamp in decent shape should be classified as worth NOTHING
Beauty is in the eye of the collector.
A beginner or junior collector would appreciate these beyond their value.
These may not be worthy of a Siegel Auction but they still have value for someone

I have collected this way. If I like a stamp for whatever reason, I collect it. Down the road at some point I might check values and sometimes I am pleasantly surprised. I don't collect for investment that's for sure. I collect because I like stamps. I started collecting about 53 years ago. I have lost entire collections for whatever reason but I keep coming back. Value wise it may be worth nothing but valuing the hobby is more important than ANY VALUE to me. :)

Hello All, old & New members,
I did not get the impression 'jimstamper' was asking an existential question about the 'value' of the hobby. For sure, there are those who collect only for the beauty of the stamps, those who collect w/ investment in mind, & those who combine both. I believe he simply wanted to know the monetary value of these 4 stamps!....Just my 2ยข Franklin's worth.
Hope all have a great weekend, (RIP, Tony Bourdain)

I see too many people tell new to the hobby or people who "find" some "old" stamps that it's junk or not worth anything. In the later, it may have been or meant something to the original owner regardless of value. What used to be a great hobby has become a less friendly environment. Social media sites including sites like this seems to have made everyone experts when they know virtually nothing. I knew why he posted. I was only trying to get across that if you are purely interested in stamps as an investment then you are missing out. The USPS decides to come out with scratch and sniff stamps? People take three approaches, one that it demeans the hobby (just like self stick), it's childish (for kids?) or it's a huge advancement in stamps? lol You have to tame yourself in order to promote the hobby. I talked to an old friend from the Detroit area it had been years from the old Clawson neighborhood. He knew from a previous conversation that I collected stamps. So he said he came upon some US stamps. So I sat at the phone and computer and had him describe them. Yes, he thought there might be huge value. I took the time not to just say well they probably aren't worth anything, but I took my time and found most of the ones he described. I took my time and explained about "old" stamps and some have little value. He actually learned something about stamps. He had more and he was going to for the heck of it take them to a dealer or club to see what was there, yes value-wise.

    Charles,

of course you are right, that stamp-collecting is not for investment only, but
the value of stamps is also a part of it.
And if I answer a question, like that of Jimstamper,I assume that he does
not ask for a sentimental value (to ask for this would make no sence),but
what are my stamps worth in terms of money. And if they are the kind of
stamps, what have no commercial value, well,I can only say, that they are
    worth nothing.
I do not agree with you, what you write about experts, who know nothing.
In this forum you will find people who know a lot about stamps.Nobody
will know everything in all fields of our hobby, but that does not mean
    they know nothing.
Modern issues: I think most seasoned collectors will agree with you:
new and extraordinary does not mean better.

    Hi Werner, et al,
I tend to agree w/ you especially concerning the vast majority making up this group. Previously, whenever I needed an opinion or question answered I never had the impression, from those responses/opinions, that either they were written in stone, or there might be another different valid opinion.
I do believe there are quite a few very knowledgable philatelist,in this group, who love stamp collecting for various reasons & who's to judge which reason for collecting is best...?
