i would like to think that any age could join, i have only been on here a few months myself, and apart from one or two topics getting rather aerated, i have seen nothing that could be damaging to young minds, but i would suggest that an adult should monitor a child’s actions and behaviour and wellbeing while they are using the site, no different to them using a chat engine. any suspicious behaviour from any other member towards them should be reported straight away, so it can be followed through and action taken if need be. from my own dealings on here so far, i have found everyone to be polite, and have a great respect for the site and the other members Steve
SL if a youngster enters a date of birth showing him to be a minor upon enrollment will the site still confirm him or her? My neice would also like to join the same club as her Uncle?
There shoudnt be any problem with them joining we have youngsters on the coin forum. We do ask that members remember that youngsters are here though and behave in a manner that is non threatening towards them (Language etc)
Just one more thing SL, she does not have a computer, I let her into mine on a more limited account. I know you check I.P's so hers will be the same as mine. Does this represent any administrative problems?
I do not check all IP's only when i think something is not right, and if your young friend was on and something did happen, i would not forgive myself? Steve
when joining it asks for a date of birth, if they do not hide this then all would know how old they are, mine clearly shows i am 48, bit too old now for Mickey Mouse lol, the age can be hidden, but why would "hold that thought" mmm I know you should never ask a lady her age Steve
You check I. P.'s???? This is considered intrusive by most user of the net. I have nothing to hide, but I would not like my address flooding with adverts. Please do not check my I. P. I joined a stamp club to learn about stamps, not because I want a credit card or a bank loan. I am not trying to be offensive, just firm on this point.
It is sensible policy not to put too much information of a personal nature on the internet. that is how I.D. thieves manage to empty users bank accounts, with personal knowledge of people, sorry if stamps seemed to have taken a back seat here for a moment, but this is heavy stuff and slightly worrying.
Yes we check Ip's when we believe that a member is using more than one screen name, this is a private forum and we ask members not to abuse it by using multiple id's After all a person doing this could in theory offer something for sale and manipulate the price by offering shill bids on there own items and we woudnt like that happening to our members
Yes how is the junior section going ? Are they going to show us some stamps ? Have they stamp related questions ? Who is supervising them ? From whom have they learned about stamps ? What stamps do they collect maybe show us a few ? What was their impression of a stamp show they visited last with their parent ? Do their friends also collect stamps ? What interests them most about stamps ? Have the stamp exchange partners at school or even overseas ? Have any of the junios asked for stamps from members of this site - was there any feedback ? Relative answers to the above may be a good start to stamp collecting !
I notice that I can obtain points at this website. tha's nice, i allready have 3 of them. but what do i do with them? change for stamps? become a better person?
That is a good point - pardon the pun Maybe admin should give 2 points for ever image to members or give a point only to members who have shown an image.
Hi, welcome to the forum Basmae. Hope we could know more about your collection and interests through the Introduction thread and other threads here.
Just use a singular LAN setting for this site! i.p. addresses are dynamic now adays anyway, you have nothing to worry about.
