Hi Richard, The only authority any collector is going to acknowledge with respect to a high value rotary waste stamp is a certificate of authentication. That's the way these stamps are sold. Nobody is really able to accurately probe the characteristics from a scan.
The chance of that stamp being the very rare #544 are about .005% The moderator is right on by suggesting authentication, but that comes with a cost, albeit not very much when the stamp is determined to be worthless.
