Heard somebody describe the consequences of opening up the gambling 'addiction' to all comers.

We'll. getting involved in eBay bidding for stamps is just about as addicting, but at least I get something for the money spent. Someone in Japan (of all places) posted 7 Canal Zone overprints on older (c.a. 1920's) US stamps. A couple of the overprints turned out being a Type A; others were Type B. The one 50c Type A catalogs at something like $45 USD. Total cat value of the 7? A little over $100. My cost? #3.30 + $3.00 postage = $6.60.

And to think that one month ago I knew nothing about: (1) stamp auctions on eBay, or (2) Type A & Type B overprint differences on Canal Zone stamps. Live and learn - or perish in ignorance !

Congrats on that deal! I love it when that happens.
Do you know that I have never ever gambled a day in my life? I absolutely despise it. I think it how I was raised. We weren't even allowed to have a deck of cards in our house. I asked and no one (at least that will admit it) has ever had any sort of gambling issues or addiction. I know some people really have some serious problems with it though.
