I have never come across a friendly shark anywhere but I do know they like to make a meal of it, like some here. ;)

New question: I decided I wanted to use stamp hinges. I know it's not the way everyone recommends, but it's the method that I think works best for me. So the question is, will it significantly reduce the collectible value of unused stamps if I put them on hinges? I don't know that I would ever sell them, but I don't want to just damage everything either.

Yes, hinging a stamp that was mint never hinged will significantly reduce it's value. Hinging a mint stamp that was previously hinged won't so much. If the stamps are common and not expensive obviously the loss isn't all that significant. A collector must decide for himself his own approach to collecting.

Simple answer is yes, this is why I use stock books no hinges required :D
