Definitive,issued Dec.21st,1983,from a set of 10. Not a lokomotive,but a not often featured rail-way topic.
On a similar theme....a booklet pane from a GB Prestige Booklet from 2004,Letters by Night. It shows mail staff sorting mail on the TPO....Traveling Post Office.
PS....The first class stamp in the above scan was originally issued in 2003 as part of the Pubs Signs issues. The Station was quite a common name for a pub......
First "Five Year Plan" definitives. Upper stamp:Lithography-print,issued Aug.10th,1953 (Michel no.371), from a set of 18; Lower stamp: Typography-print,issued Nov.21st,1953(Mi.no.415), from a set of 18; Of both sets exist reprints from 1957.The reprints were sold with machine-printed cancellation only. The reprints were produced in big numbers (20 millions sets each) mainly for export. They can rather easily be distiguished from the originals. They cost only a small percentage of the original sets. The Typo-print version was reissued in April 1957 (Mi.no.581A) in a slightly (very slightly) brighter colour,on a paper with a different watermark (DDR Kreuzblüten instead of DDR Posthorn).
After having posted the above post,I had a look at the stamps again. The difference in colour between Mi.nos.415 and 581A looks to me bigger than I had thought.(I am not yet familiar with my recently purchased DDR collection and will have a lot to learn !) Here the two stamps for comparison: 415 upper,581A lower Mi.581A was in a set of 9 the only stamp, what exists perf.13 x 12.5 only. The others Mi.577B-80B,582B-85B were also issued perf.14,starting in May 1958 till December 1959.The images of the "B-series" are slightly higher than those of the "A-series",22,5 mm vers.22 mm. There are also some minor differences in the designs of some of the stamps.
