I've started collecting a few stamps of France. France has some of the most beautiful stamps out there, in my opinion. Here are three that I like from the small collection that I have. Let's see some more French stamps.

    Gunny,

Which period have you started collecting?
I have quite a few duplicates, in case you are prepared to trade.
All french stamps keep to the original design scheme(mostly)

I'm not collecting any specific period. I just picked up a pack of 20 French stamps from the postal museum because I like them. I also get packs of 500 worldwide stamps now and then that also have French stamps in them.

Hey guys, I collect French stamps and usually mnh. Recently I bought some 50s stamps but they were lightly hinged. Does this make a big difference to their value? I didn't pay a lot for them and it was my fault for not noticing they were hinged, so no harm no foul.

I think it is safe to say that Mint-Hinged stamps are never as valuable as Mint Never Hinged stamps. However, having said that, unless you've spent a considerable amount of money, there won't be much difference. The important thing here is that you've hopefully learned from this. We've all did something similar if not the same thing.

Yeah I took my eye off the ball and didn't notice the 1 star for mlh instead of 2 stars for mnh. But they are still very nice sets. I'll try and post some of them later.

Just adding to the french theme and to see if I can do this right. 1476862178904-741755728.jpg 1476862178904-741755728.jpg

In early US issues (19th century) MNH can bring multiples of catalog value.

Unfortunately such issues would cost many multiples of my bank account and herself would have another good reason to do away with me.it's my own fault really, I have her thinking my collection is already worth a fortune and that it will only get better. At this stage I think it will be a death bed confession.

Perhaps you should just have a letter mailed to her after you have been mounted in the big stamp album in the sky <Paul>. :)

I restarted collecting a little over a year ago. Alas, I've bought far more stamp books than stamps. Every time I get another book my wife asks, "Are you collecting stamps or stamp books?"

It seems like I have a catalogue for each individual stamp. Money's not finite so I'll have the be more disarming with my purchases.
