    dear all

these belong to my father. they are both framed.
just wondering: why is the ten commandments stamp sheet of lower value than the palau, world of sea and reef stamp sheet?

The two sheets are from different stamp issuing entities. Presumably, countries issue stamps in denominations that match the existing postal service rates. The stamps in the Palau sheet, for example, are valued at 14 cents, U.S. currency and were issued in 1986. The U.S. postal card rate in 1986 was 14 cents, so these stamps were intended for use on postal cards, (the United States, by the way, operated Palau's postal system at the time of issuance of these stamps).

I know little about Lestho's postal system and rates for postal services, but, again, the the 20 sentes rate probably meets a postal service rate of the country.

Now, having said that, the stamps in both sheets, while meeting existing postal rates, were issued, in my opinion, primarily for stamp collectors. The Lestho sheet commemorates the Christian holiday of Easter and probably was issued for sale to topical stamp collectors of religion on stamps. Similarly, the Palau sheet would appeal to collectors of marine life on stamps.

I agree to Don´s remarks.2 Maloti (Rand) was much less than
    Us $ 5.60.
However the main reason for the different cat.-values of these
sheets will come from their designs.
Bible-thematic stamps are not very popular,at least outside
    of the US.
Especially if the designs are pure bad "Kitsch",like those of
    the Lesotho sheet.
One the other hand animal-thematics are rather popular almost
    worldwide.
But as the Palau stamps are somewhat more expensive, than
other issues from that time,I guess the sheet was printed in
limited numbers,or was bought by many american collectors
    maybe on the AMERIPEX ´86.
