Came across this stamp while sorting through my Philippines stamps. Anyone else have any Philately related stamps?
The shown "stamp" from the Philippines has an interesting history. It was planned for 1968,but was never issued. The (philippine) Secretary of Public Works had entered a contract with an agency (Parco International) in New York, owned by an Mr.Ezzet Mosden. However the Phillipine Postal Administration would not honour that contract and the already printed stamps were declared invalid. Mosden never the less sold the "stamps" to customers worldwide, what was the intended purpose of the contract anyway. The Secrtary of Public Works left office. (probably some kick-backs were the reason for that) Two sets were printed and sold: I. Kennedy (human rights) 5 stamps, two s.s.,all perforated & imp. II. Mexico-Olympics 8 stamps,2 souvenir sheets, all perf & imp. The print-quantities are not known, but they must have been quite big.All these stamps are still on the market in ample supply.
Here is a Pre sta mped envelope issued 1984 for Australian Philatelic Exhibition in Melbourne. The stamp area illustrates what is known to collectors as the First Watermark which was used in the 1913 issues of "Kangaroos on map" Commonwealth stamps.
I thought we had a similar thread like "stamps on stamps" before, but I could not find one. This stamp for sure is not the first commemorating stamp-collecting. But I wonder, wether there is an earliar one, fearuring a stamp collector. issued Jan.11th,1941
Not issued for the same occasion, but very close to the date of the first (german) stamps, what were issued on Nov.1st,1849. This stamp issued in the "Other German State" on Oct.30th,1949.
A Belgium stamp from 1962 honoring Postal Messengers in the 16th Century. I might add, a good use of colors makes this a beautiful stamp in my opinion.
Both previously shown stamps were united, now imperforated, in a s.s. for the German Stamp Exhibition "DEBRIA" in Leipzig. The sheet was sold from Aug.26th,1950 at the exhibition and the philatelic service in Berlin only and from Aug.29th at all post offices in Leipzig.750.000 s.s. were printed of what 16.900 were destroyed because for quality reasons. Counterfeits exist on paper without watermark.
Here is a copy of the Ostropa sheet that was issued in 1935 for the stamp show in Königsberg at Königsberg castle. I do own a copy of the sheet, but was too lazy to photograph it. I have a 20 some year old digital camera and in order to use it I have to plug it in a charger in order to take a picture. Anyway here is a nice link with interesting information. https://www.stamp-collecting-world.com/thirdreich_ostropa.html
Here are a couple more, this time from Chile celebrating the first International Stamp Exhibition in 1955.
