"Children´s Saving Stamps, issued April 1st,1960. None of the "usual" souvenir sheets was issued. However a s.s. with both stamps was issued (and will be shown) later, commemorating the " 4th Postal Week". (Some) korean catalogues list these stamps as definitives. Stamps of the same designs were issued in later years in Won-currency. Of those three different pairs exist: on white paper,on granite paper with watermark and on granite paper with no watermark.
Don´t know why,but I had left out scanning and posting the following definitive set: The set should be placed in between posts 43 and 44. Unlike the previous definitives, this set is printed on ordinary white paper, with watermark 3,instead of wmk. 2 as before.(please look at post 36 for the different watermarks !) Stamps were issued: 2,4,10,20,40,100 Hwan Dec.18th,1957 30 Hwan Aug.15th,1958 5,15 Hwan Nov.20th,1958 50,500,1000 Hwan Dec.15th,1958 55 Hwan Sept.20th,1959 200,400 Hwan Nov.20th,1959
"Rebirth of the Republic" (of Korea),issued Oct.1st,1960 (s.s.exists) In May 1960 the dictatorial president Rhee, after severe public protests, what let into chaos, stepped down and went into exile to the USA (Hawaii). A parliamentary government was established, where the political power moved from the president to the prime minister. However the new government could not stabilize Korea.
