A series, made up of six sets, issued in advance of the 1964
Olympics in Tokyo came by.I liked it so much, that I started
collecting Japan. That was fifty years ago.I terminated my
Japan-collection in 1988,when they started to issue more
and more stamps, too many more,to my taste.

    set I,issued Oct.11th,1961

    set II,June 23rd,1962

    set III,Oct.10th,1962

    set IV,june 23rd,1963

    set V,Nov.11th,1963 JO6.jpg
    set VI,June 23rd,1964
It is perhaps the simplicity of the colours and the big white
parts of the stamps, that give them an appearance of freshness.
Still today my favourite sport-thematic stamps.

Very attractive set! I can understand how it motivated you to collect Japan.

The following stamps are the first set of a long-running series.
My favourite series of all orchid-thematic stamps.
The whole series contains about 300 stamps. In addition many
of these were overprinted and revalued. Guy1.jpg

I have several more of the serie, but am far from being complete.
Here for comparison,to give an idea of the actual size, one more
orchid- and a most common US air-mail-stamp:

A kind of thematic collection is my accummulation of stamps and
sets showing sceneries and people from different countries.
The majority are from British and French colonies.
I prefere engraved stamps, but also have others,if there are no
    engraved ones.
I will show some in rather short posts.Otherwise the pages take
an awful long time to build up,at least,if you have such a slow
    connection,like here in Paraguay.

There are three more Dollar-values,I don“t have.
They show coat of arms only and are pricey.

i really like this thread and have some favourite stamps which I would like to show.Unfortunately,I do not have a scanner and have tried to take photos with my camera. However, the quality of the photo is very poor.Is it ok to post photos of these stamps taken from other sources ?

    Just my personal opinion:
I would not take any stamps from sources other than my collection.
But if so,for any reason,I would clearly mark, that it is not mine and
    would name the source.
The best solution,I think,is to buy a scanner.I did so a few months
ago, because my old scanner was not compatible to my present PC.
I bought a HP 2115 and paid Gs.420.000.- (equivalent to about
    US $ 80.-.Paraguay,where I live,is a high-price-country.So you
might get some similar scanner somewhat cheaper in your place.
