Queen Beatrix,definitive series from 1981 onwards. Flevoland bcame the 12th province of the Netherlands on Jan.1st, 1986.Except of two smaller islands,all land of Flevoland was recovered from the Zuider-Sea. In the 1930th the Zuider-Sea was sealed off from the North-Sea by a dyke.Apart from Flevoland the remaining Zuider-See was not drained,as planned,but parted into two lakes by another dyke. The Marker-Meer and the Ijssel-Meer,both now sweet-water lakes.
