They are beautiful and really didn't take much notice until I got those mourning covers. Did I post images of them here?

I agree!!! I like the US stamps, but I've seen them all. I love seeing the stamps from other countries you guys have collected! Helps me decide what countries I need to be looking for;)

Steve, that is a $5 Columbian Scott# 245. Current Value used $1500. Only 30,000 produced. If you find one, keep it, its a good one. lol

Think about this. $5 in 1890 was alot of money.

Just got back from art class, and will try to find the larger image. It is nice I will admit, but it is not well centered, and has a few perf nibs. However, the image is nice as the cancel is a regular one ( likely registered) instead of the heavy roller type type. Don't know about the pricing as 2005 is my most recent Scott.

As far as the Columbians go I only have the first 8 and the 244. I actually collect ticket and passes from the 1893-4 Colombian Exposition held in Chicago.

Half Dollars America's first commemorative coin. I have both issues; 1892 & 1893

I have main set with the exception of Handel the Minstral and the ones below I just bought and had them handy to scan fo you. I didn't want to put up a hoard of scans in this thread. I'll post them by request if an interest. -Jay

reverse: notice the hinge remnants on the back. I'm hesitant to soak it because I don't know if it can be submerged?
