I have this bad habit of starting little stamp projects and not finishing them for long periods of time or getting tired of seeing the little pile on my desk and then putting them into a glassine and putting the stamps back in the box. Right now I have two small stock cards from various countries, a pile of pre-1940 France, a tiny pile of Switzerland, some recent US definitives on paper, a stack of stock sheets topped with a pile of pre-1940 Italian stamps that need to be sorted, and finally a large mound of Australia on and off paper that need to be sorted and put on stock sheets. I call this a lack of philatelic focus...or maybe it is because I suddenly get interested in something else and bored with the items I started to work on...
Ah I know this feeling very well LOL at the moment I have about a dozen stock cards with diffrent themes/countries around me as well as a few piles of coins
Just spotted this exchange. So true - I do something similar. I was briefly considering making a collection of Atlantic Islands - I already have a lot of Newfoundland, Greenland, Faroes and Iceland, and a few Tristan da Cunha. Then I did some research. It was a bit depressing - St Pierre & Miquelon looks to me to be mainly confetti, Azores and Cape Verde not v exciting, and a lot of recent confetti. The Falklands are disappointing too, as are Dependencies (South Georgia) and BAAT. So I dumped that idea. So instead I bought a ring binder and some Prinz pages, with the intention of moving my engraver collection out of the maroon stockbook. This is because I've bought some nice Decaris stamps from Andorra and Monaco, and don't have room in the stockbook pages. The ring binder will enable me to introduce more pages. Moving the collection - about 30 engravers so far - will take quite a few evenings. I'm hanging on with France 1900-1940, Sweden Gustav V and Laos (kingdom). And the engravers.
I have mentioned in a few forum threads here that I was in the process of moving down to the south of Texas to run an assembly plant in Mexico... distance of about 260 miles. Those 'little piles' that I so neatly sorted out with the best intensions turned out to cost a lot of time getting them secured in glassines to get them boxed up... I have 3 major sized boxes labelled "Current Inventory - Unpack First!!"
