Occupation Stamps

Definitives high values in a smaller size,issued April 10th,1943
(2 & 4 Zl.),Oct.26th,1943 (10 Zl.) and Feb.11th,1944 (6 Zl.)

 

Hitler´s 55th birthday anniv.,issued April 20th,1944;

 

Cultural Fund,issued July 15th,1944;

 

The last stamp of the Generalgouvernement,commemorating the
fifth anniversary of her establisment,issued Oct.26th,1944.

 

I agree: the stamp of the Generalgouvernement and also those for
Böhmen und Mähren are some of the best and most attractive ones,
issued during the III.Reich.
Prices for used and mint n.h. are nearly the same.
In Germany,and that is the most important market for german
stamps,most collectors prefere mint stamps.
For modern stamps,(issued during and after WW I),this means
mint,never hinged,"postfrisch" in German.
If one can accept hinged stamps,prices of most issues are very much
lower,than for mint n.h.
As it is difficult to find buyers for hinged stamps,most are sold abroad
and cheaper ones,like that of the Generalgouvernement,are not often
on offer here.

 

Gunny´s post about the overprinted Philippine stamp,inspired me
to check this thread for the issues of the Japanese occupation-issues
for the Philippines.I think,I had left them out,simply because I am
far from having a complete collection of them.
So I just can show,what I have and try to describe,what is missing.

Michel no.1-7
Gunny has already described the first set of 7 defintives,overprinted
on philippine stamps of previous years,issued 1942/43.

Michel no.8
On May 18th,1942 a philippine definitive from 1935 was overprinted
as a commemorative to celebrate the fall of Bataan and Corregidor.

Michel no.9-11
The next issue is the first,I can show:

Issued Nov.12th,1942,the surcharge went to fund the Red Cross.
According to Sakura catalogue,the print was 200.000 each for both
lower values and 60.000 for the 16 C.+2 C. Michel gives smaller
print-quantities,49.000 for the 16 C. + 2 C.There are other stamps
with lower prints,so I don´t know why this stamps is the most
expensive of all of them.

An imperforated s.s. exists,what I do not own.

were issued also imperforated; print: 200.000 sets each perf. and imperf.

 

sold for one Peso; the surtax was for a planned monument;

 

Missing are air-mail overprints (2),issued May 7th,1944 and the commemorative issue "First anniversary of the republic",showing
president Laurel (3).

Service stamps,issued April 7th,1943.
A similar 5 C.,was issued on June 26th,1944,missing in my collection.
