Hello, my name is Adam and I'm from Poland. A few years ago, out of curiosity, and with free means, I took the opportunity and acquired a large collection of stamp albums. I'm currently trying to personally identify them and learn their history, however, not being a specialist in philately and not having one among friends and family, I have a big problem. This has been quite a long time, but I did not give up and I'm still looking for information inter alia on philatelic forums. On the basis of current knowledge, it seems to me that I have in my collection some really interesting items. I would be very grateful for the help of experienced philatelists in identifying my collection at times. I must admit that I'm willing to sell interesting, unique or valuable stamps, if I can just find them in my albums. Greetings to all members!

Witam! Welcome to the Stamp Exchange Adam. Should be a lot of fun going through those albums. Post some pictures for us too!

I'm sure we all will point out the interesting or valuable material if we can see you collection. Has anyone any experience using YOUTUBE to show a video of their collection? Maybe Adam could try that and post the link here.

I was thinking about using video to show off my albums. Got them all boxed up right now though, when I get them out I might try that. Dunno if the camera on my phone is good enough to show them off that well though, and that's all I have. It would be interesting to see any that other people have done though, I'll start a new thread on it.

Hello Adam, Welcome to the site. Another great place to ask questions.Trying to learn as you visit each philatec forum is going to be difficult.
To go along with that large collection of stamp albums you're going to need the country specific stamp catalogues in order to learn the characteristics of each country's stamps, and what makes a stamp rare and or valuable.

I find 5 year old catalogs are fine. If I'm not worried about selling right now, just trying to find the better from the common the old catalogs are fine.

You are correct, its the information that is important, value is usually decided on the auction block.

Unfortunately I'm not good enough in English to add a video. Even now I'm using Google Translate. But happily I will add photos or scans of my stamps.

I have mainly German stamps and I'm using the Michels catalog for Deutschland stamps and to identify them. For Polish stamps I'm using Fishers catalog of Polish stamps.

Got to have one! Can't collect effectively, efficiently, economically,or knowledgeably without one.

Yeah, I'd be lost with out a catalouge. And was. As a kid I had a few published albums and all I knew was what was written under each box, didn't really begin to understand U.S. Stamps until I bought a Scott Specialized.
