From 1936 Japan started issuing stamps, commemorating the nations
national parks. The first series ran till 1956,a second series from 1962 till 1974.
    Japan 218.jpg
Commemorating the Mt.Fuji (Fujiyama) - Hakone N.P.,this first set of the first series was issued on July 10th,1936.
The 6 and the 10 Sen had the lowest print-quantity of 250.000 each.
This set is the only one of the first series, what was not accompanied by
    a souvenir sheet.
The set was sold only at the post-offices in the national park (!)

    Japan 272B.jpg
    issued Dec.25th,1938
Stamps printed in sheets: 500.000 full sets
    Souvenir sheets: 300.000
This sheet and all souvenir sheets of of the first series National Parks, were sold in a folder.

The system does no show the inner pages, what describe the issue, here.
To see them, you have to open Japan 272A.
Buying s.s. accompanied by folders will cost an additional premium.
Expect dealers being reluctant to buy s.s. without folders.
In all folders of gummed s.s. there was a glassin-type leave to protect
    the gum.

The series for the Daiton-NP/Nitaka-Arisan-NP and for the Tugita-
Taroko-N.P. in Taiwan were issued on March 10th,1941.
350.000 sets each and 76.000 s.s. each were printed. Japan 302.jpg
Both s.s.shared one single folder, sold for 90 Sen.
This is the only N.P.-issue of Japan with two s.s. in a single folder.
Due to the war there were issued no further National-Park-series till 1949.
To view the inner pages of this folder,pl.open Japan 302A.

In 1949 the National-Park series was resumed.Main difference was,
that the face values of the stamps now were in Yen and no longer in
Sen due to the inflation what hit Japan after the (lost) war.
