A day off from work spent sorting, perfing and identifying 100s of Machins. My arm is sore from holding the stamp tongs stiffly above the perforation gauge...15, 14 or 13 1/2? So far I have filled 18 stock pages. What are you all working on?

Helping my son get his collection started. He got a paper bag full of U.S. at a stamp show back in Nov. and we are trying to figure out how to get his collection together.

Are you thinking of buying and album or creating your own pages?

    Hey Darrin,

I also collect Machins. I have some duplicates, would you like to trade for your duplicates. No pressure.....lol

Yes, I would. I am at the point where I am looking for specific Scott numbers. What do you need?

I probably have 60-70 percent of the Machins. Normally I buy a 'lot' of Machins and go through them, and add to my collection. I can send what I have to you, just inbox me your info. Thanks.

I hate Machins, well not really, i just find the Comms so much easier to work with, so i have thousands i have never look at, including GB and USA, but one day i will have no other choice but to workl on them

darrin got me started on germany, netherlands and now belgium machins, but still hate doing them lol

I'll send my info. along in a minute. A long while back after I had decided to collect them I bought the Scott Machin pages. At the same time I bought a couple of bulk lots on eBay so I have quite a few. Too much of some of the more commonly used denominations...

Anyway, I finally put everything up to the point when they switched over to elliptical perfs on stock pages in a notebook. They are all sorted by catalog number already. Would you be comfortable with me sending the whole 3 ring binder to you and taking what you need in trade and sending it back? This is perhaps unusual but it is my stock I guess...I am slowly accumulating in order to sell all-different lots on eBay...

Machins are the perfect collectible definitive stamp! You can identify all of them with only a perforation gauge and a magnifying glass. They come in many striking colors so they are pretty on the page. The series is long so there is a lot to collect and they keep printing more of them and in greater and more interesting varieties. Long Live the Queen so they keep printing Machins!

I dont want you to go through all that trouble. Do you want a list of Scott# that I need?

I bought the complete Great Britian Album with the Machin pages in November. I have been adding to it slowly. I have no problem sending you what I have. You can keep them if they are duplicates, so that you can trade or sell later.

Please send along a list, if you don't mind. I was planning on posting a couple of pages of all-different Machins up for trade here on the forum. I will add any duplicates that I get from you and pass them along to somebody here in the forum. What do you think?

I have a few albums for him when he is ready for them. Right now we are going to use a lighthouse 32 page stockbook for him. Once he out-grows it I'll get him the Mystic 3 Vol. U.S. albums like mine

It sounds both of you will really have a lot of good time sorting stamps together. ;)

Until now I am having a hard time to decide whether to "regroup" or re categorized my old stamps that sticking on my old albums. I used to just put stamps together the way I want it, that's how non pro I am when it comes to stamps. LOL

Bionicbelly Getting this stamp thing licked

    Sore right arm ???

Hmmm I find the most destroying thing when sorting through such material ( I enjoy the hunt ) and after what seems like 6 million years, and 40 mega tonnes of Kiloware , you find that one stamp, that one stamp that is the Holy Grail of Philately If you are lucky it is in good condition, perfect postmark and has a very high cat value.

Best of all, you already have one in your collection, so this can be sold. You are already planning to spend your new fortune on updating catalogues, accessories or that stamp or two that has long evaded you . Your eyes are sore and tired, your back and arms ache, it's 5am and you have been up all night, but you struggle to keep awake just to list your latest find on Ebay .... only to find ..... No one wants it even though it's priced in pence !!!:(

This week I am sorting and clearing stuff out, I have a 10' x 10' shed full of stuff and I need room to work, I have already shifted out about 30Kg of kiloware, a few stockbooks, loads of singles and sets .... and I am sure I have less room now than when I started !!!

The wife said either some stamps go or she does ! Hmmm any idea how much I can get for a wife on Ebay anyone ?
