Wanted to show off my new Confederate cover. What do you think? Appears to be legit but I guess you never know.
I don't have any expertise in the subject, but they certainly look very nice. Unless there's something about them that makes you go "hmm", I wouldn't be too worried about fakes. Yes, there are many around; but that doesn't mean you should be suspicious of everything, IMO.
Looks like a great piece you were able to get for yourself. Are you planning to have its legitimacy reviewed? I really hope it's the real deal because it looks like it is.
Thanks everyone. I do plan on getting it authenticated, just not in a big rush. I bought it about a month ago. Traveled about 2 hours to get it but got a wonderful deal. I've never sold a single stamp of mine so when I do it will be for my own self assurance, and I'm a big fan of Confederate covers anyhow. I actually have a CSA # 6 & 8 cover as well I got in a large mix. Still in the research processes. The stamps are 100% legit, just not sure of the ties. Any opinions?
You'll have to remember to let us know when you do get it authenticated. I'm really hoping it's real and would love to hear that
Thanks Wahm. I will definitely do that. I really like those postcards you posted. I'm a big fan of history too! Any certain areas, time period or country you like most?
I don't really have a time period that I am in "love" with LOL I like all types of history so anything is worthy of my viewing/collecting in my opinion. Do you have something that you're really into specifically?
Wow this looks like it's legit. How much did it cost you to get this? Seems like a real piece of history.
I'm a big fan of history in general but especially ephemera from the civil war or before. Really, any ephemera, although, I am a total fool for stamps, covers ect... I paid close to $1,000 USD for the CSA #13 cover. I bought it from a trusted guy that comes in to my friends stamp shop. The others I bought on a separate occasion in a mix.
Wow. Very amazed by the value of this. You must be a very serious collector to spend $1000 on this stamp. Anyway, great stamp and a definite piece of history.
I think you're right in that he's bound to get even more money once this is authenticated. Seems like he's in it for the love, not the money though. For me, that's the way to go
Wow. George Washington on a stamp? That is awesome. I don't think that anybody has put Obama on a stamp in the 21st century. I don't really know if that is good or bad, though. It would probably create a lot of controversy. But I haven't really seen something like this before so thank you for sharing it. People sure had different handwriting back in those days, too. I wonder if people really had it in their brain to be able to read that. Then print came out and no one really writes in cursive anymore, you know?
Just a small selection of what is available on ebay Katherine Take a look at ebay and you will be suprised LOL http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/like/3509...ff11=ICEP3.0.0&ff12=67&ff13=80&ff14=95&ff19=0 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Guinea-Ba...170?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item486214230a http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/St-Kitts-...372?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2c7db0dacc http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Sierra-Le...921?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item48620b1d79
