I am excited to announce that my very first purchased new stamp has come today and I have put it in my album.I have also five more as I ordered George V shades. Please comment and be honest with me [as long as it is just about the stamps]?I would love to know what the experts think and what i should be looking for next.thanks View attachment 2015 I found the anticipation of their arrival quite sublime, does this make me a stamp junkie ha ha ha ha?
Sorry but the pic is way to poor to pass any kind of comment on them also how can one say what sort of buy you made if you do not include the purchase price?
Valid point Steve, the picture started out great but I could not post it on here, so I had to keep degrading it until it was low enough resolution for it to be accepted.Would you take my word for it if i said they were very very nice? How much would you have paid for them?(See how I am avoiding having egg on my face)
Quite happy to take your word for them been nice as for what I would have paid for them that would have depended on the condition LOL if the Watermark was normal/inverted/sideways for a normal one possibly 30p to 50p if it had the control number/letter possibly up to £2
we usually use scanners to showcase the details of the stamps. Of course I'm not suggesting that you run out and spend a pile of money on such a contraption, but I just wanted you to know that's how we can get such large and clear images. Now, having said that -I'll say this: I used to use my camera but I used a high resolution (macro) setting and no flash, mounted on a tripod (just to reduce blur) and use photo bucket account to post images as it saves time and hard drive space. From what I can tell they appear to look relatively great condition but I know squat about World Wide (I'm a Yank -lol). Congrats on newest acquisition West! Your friend -Jay
I think you got a wonderful bargain. Can you really put a £ 2.40 price tag on that kind of happiness? Methinks not!
As Steve R. mentioned the watermark would make the stamps a liitle more in value if they were inverted (upside doen) or Sideways. The value is of no concern really as it is of value to you. Now that you have some stamps, look them up on the net or even find them in a catalogue it makes interesting reading. They may even have some constant flaw or error on them. Keep your Album upright and Dry thus keeping your stamps in good condition. Look forward to the others.

Your very welcome West. And may I strongly urge you to accept one of the free stamp packet offers if you haven't already, because you will have such a thrill seeing all that beautiful stuff up close and personal AND even if it's stuff that's not in your collecting realm you will at least have trade material. After all this IS a stamp trading board. You will be thoroughly amazed I can promise because they don't send any junk -It's all great stuff! Your collector friend -Jay
This morning I received four more stamps through the mail. I have no scanner so I cannot supply an acceptable image, but I am happy to email my photograph of them to anyone who is interested. I love the site and everyone has been most helpful in introducing me to the hobby. Sorry for the mistakes I have made, there is a great deal to learn. Has anyone else bought stamps today?
