Hello all, I can remember when the AA mechanics used to drive these motorcycles, they used to salute you if you had one of their badges on the front of your vehicle. They also had the AA emergency telephone boxes placed at strategic points along the highways. This was of course forty odd years before the mobile phone. I still have my old style badge and a modern square one too. Regards, James.
Ireland 2006....(some) Irish winners of Isle of Man TT Races. This was a joint issue with the Isle of Man. The Miniature Sheet features two brothers, Joey Dunlop #3 and Robert Dunlop #4. Sadly....Joey was killed during a race in Estonia in 2000 and Robert was killed during a race in Ireland in 2008.
Hi, I like your stamps, and I'm sad that from all over 800 stamps that I have, I don't have any with a motorcycle. I could not believe when I saw this, I do have with bicycles a lot but no motorcycles.
From my WWl collection. Cpl Robert Norman, a motorcycle despatch rider in WWl, issued Jersey 2018. Prior to adopting these motorcycles by the Royal Engineers, riders on horseback had this dangerous communications job, through treacherous weather, roads clogged with heavy traffic and under fire.
One of my favourite motor-cycles designs.Exists in a number of different varieties, colour, perforation an watermark. It´s a shame that Scott lists them at the "back of the book". In my collection all postage stamps, service and postage dues, etc. incl. are at the place of theirs date of issue.
The USPS came out with a sheet of American motorcycles in 2006 that included 4 distinct types: the Harley, the Indian, the Cleveland and the Chopper that could be collected as a strip of 4 or a block of 4. https://www.collectons.com/shop/ite...-Unused-Sheet-of-20-Scott-4085-4088#imgs67544
