Car-manufacturing in Zwickau. 20 Pfg. Horch 8 (1911) 35 Pfg. Trabant August Horch (1868-1951) founded a car-production company in 1904,what would become the most selling producer of upper-class and luxury-cars in Germany,till the beginning of World War II. However he was squeezed out of his company by stock-holders and founded a new company in 1909. A court-battle about the names of both companies ended badly for Horch,so he could not use his name for his new one. He renamed it,by translating "Horch" into Latin: "Audi". Till today a very good brand-name in the world of car-manufacturing. Stamps issued April 3rd,1979.

Car on the "Großglockner Hochalpenstraße".The stamp is from the airmail-set of 15,issued Aug.16th,1935.The year,when that road was opened.Then it was the only road in Austria,connecting Salzburg with Carinthia. Must have been a challenge for the cars of the time to master the road,what leads up as high as 2500 m. The road,run by a private company,is a mayor attraction of Austria.
ÖAMATIC (Austrian Automobile-,Motorbike- and Touring Club) 75th anniversary,issued Oct.1st,1971. The "Marcus Wagen" was an early motor-car from 1888/89, constructed by Siegfried Samuel Marcus (1831-98).
Here are some early Australian models, unfortunately none of the manufacturers still exist, although the cars do. The se-tenant stamps were issued in 1984, the 50th anniversary of the Veteran Car Club in South Australia (Feb 1934), changed later to the Sporting Car Club, believed to be the 2nd oldest such car club after the Veteran Car Club in Great Britain.
