Yes they all are indeed Revenues and I especially like that little 2¢ purple/violet bedding stamp [Last stamp in 1 row]. I bet that goes back to the 1800's early 1900's (actually most, if not all of those do) but I never ever seen one of those before. May I have a bigger scan of it please? I want to show it to an absolute authority on the subject of Revenues and I'll bet he can tell all there is to know about it and hopefully a scott catalog number and maybe an evaluation. Thank you Kacyds.

    Oh yeah- Merry Christmas everyone!

IIRC it was revstampman that told me it was a color error.
I could be wrong... I'd have to dig to find the thread.

    Another pretty one...
I am partial to the designs with sybolism and eagles.

They are all gorgeous IMO! That's precisely why I love Revenues so much. Revenuecollector has an awesome collection doesn't he?

I have to agree they remind me in many ways of banknotes of the same period, the art work is quite amazing

    Jay,
I checked it out. It was restampman that told me to get the stamp expertized.
The stamp is one of these 3...
The other 2 are one that was on ebay as the same error (I don't think it is though), and the other is a regular non-error.

They are a little tattered but it's that same rice paper that the Confederacy used to print their fractional currency on and it just disintegrates over time. Of course for a piece of tissue like paper to have survived for 130+ years is an amazing achievement in it's own right!

  17. Coming to this thread late as I just registered ere today, but.... who is Eric? :)

    On another note:
    The BATTLESHIPS~
The battleship pictured on the U.S. "Battleship" type revenue stamps are said to be the Maine.
