The Christmas-Pyramides are not exactly a toy for children, but are a part of traditional christmas home-decorations.They were and are produced in the Erzgebirge (ore-mountains) on the border of the Czech Republic.
Invented as early as the 17th Century,1830 was the year what made them popular and affordable to a wide range of people. It was the year "Stearin" was introduced, what made candles a cheap commodity.
Candles drive the pyramides, with the hot air they produce,to make the different levels turn around.
From the 1930th big out-door pyramides were built in several
places in Germany with their "Weihnachts-Märkte" (traditional
    christmas markets).
The biggest right now is said to be in Hannover,a 18 m (about 60 feet) construction.

    Toy-Model-Trains,issued Aug.29th,1968.
The DDR (GDR) could not rival the toy-model-train industry of
    West-Germany,but was nevertheless successful internationally.
Today the industry is just a shadow of her former glory,in East-
    and West-Germany.

To call "Mon Plaisir" a doll-house is an gross understatement:
it is a doll-town of 26 houses with 84 rooms.
    Princess Auguste Dorothea of Schwarzburg-Arnstadt (1666 - 1751)
collected Mon Plaisir in the over three decades of her widowships.
The different rooms show scenes from all kinds of people of her
    residential town of Arnstadt.
Today her collection is the major tourist-attraction of the
    "Schloß-Museum Arnstadt" in Thuringia.
    Issued Sept.10th,1974. (part I of 2)
