Swedish stamps represent some of the finest engraving still being done in the stamp world. Great detail in Sweden's stamps. Don
Here's a Belgian royal duo stamp from my Cancels on Stamps Collection. Sc 1215, the 1985 25th wedding anniversary issue for King Baudouin and Queen Fabiola. This is a larger than usual stamp. It measures 55 x 38 mm and given all that space the designer put an almost tiny value in the lower right corner! Don
We're back to Canada with these two stamps from the 1908 set commemorating the 300th anniversary of the founding of Quebec. The 1/2 cent stamp includes portraits of Princess Mary and then Prince of Wales George V. Second, is the 2 cents stamp featuring Queen Alexandra and King Edward VII. Two handsome, engraved stamps from an attractive set of eight. Don
Phillip doesn't always get to share a stamp with the Queen, but then he is just a prince, not a king. Don
Good notes, Don! I am one that prefers light cancels but I will buy an entire collection regardless of grade if the price is right... I donate the excess to a couple of clubs here and save the rest for myself. CDC's are a topic for another thread...Gunner got me 'hooked' on a 'calendar' collection whereby we save one (or more) stamps of every date but they have to be of the same country. We are collecting the US and I am about to complete the majority of that system soonest... just a few holidays stand in my way!!!
Hello all, this FDC from Belgium celebrating the marriage of Fabiola de Mora y Aragón (11 June 1928 – 5 December 2014) was Queen of the Belgians from her marriage to King Baudouin in 1960 until his death in 1993. The couple had no children, so the Crown passed to her husband's younger brother, King Albert II. I have two other Belgian FDC's but I'll post them in different threads. Regards, James
Hello all, these GB stamps issued to celebrate the wedding of William and Kate. Prince William and Catherine Middleton on the 29th April 2011. Date of issue: 2011-04-21 Regards, James.
General question to anyone: When I clicked on the Stamp Chat forum the Royal Duos thread came up with a green "answered" tag. To what does "answered" refer? Thanks.
Don, I noticed answered tag on several themed threads and was wandering the sam as you. It takes us back to our concern of absent moderator(s) I guess...
Don had shown the upper stamp from 1908 before, showing George V,when Prince of Wales and Princes Mary. The lower stamp shows the couple many years later.Silverjubilee issue from May 4th,1935.
A royal couple, nearly forgotten today: King Nikola I and Queen Milena of Montenegro, pictured in a idealized prortrait. Issued on Aug.28th,1910 Designed by Koloman Moser the leading Art Noveau graphic artist.Engraved by the master engraver Ferdinand Schirnböck. Printed in Vienna.Michel does not mention it,but to me it looks like a copper-engraved stamp, the most expressive stamp-printing- method.
Very nice stamp. I believe that at that time he was Knjaz(sort of prince) and not King. He became king in 1910.
Hello all, from 13th August 1860 – 28th August 1910 he was Prince of Montenegro and from 28th August 1910 until 26th November 1918 he was king of Montenegro. His death on 1st March 1921 (aged 79) at Cap d'Antibes, France. As Werners stamp was issued on 28th August 1910 he was a king. Regards, James.
