I think that Margaret Thatcher and Abdul Rahmin differ little from American or Chinese Presidents in that they are elected members of political parties. I doubt that when Gunny started this thread he intended to show heads of republics only. In fact When I replied with the Thatcher stamps, Gunny replied "Yep, a Prime Minister will work. I remember her well. She was a great ally to President Reagan." Regards, James.
I have to admit, that I was and am neither a fan of Mrs.Thatcher nor of Ronald Reagan.Living in Ireland in the last years of her reign, I remember her as a hanbag-flinging woman, shouting:"I want my money back".In her early years she destroyed the "trade-union-rule" in Britain and later went into the Falkland-war.Both was necessary. But for Europe she was just short of a desaster. So when she was deposed by a party-coup,I felt quite relieved. If somebody wants to show prime-ministers or royalties in this thread,he/she is of course free to do so.But I myself will stick to presidents.
Living in the UK at the time I saw Thatcher in a different light, the more powerful trades unions were ruining us, disrupting transport, rubbish disposal, gas and electricity supplies sometimes during our coldest winters. When the Conservative party was in power I always had more money in my pocket than with a Labour government. PS. I too was in a trade union, the ETU - EETPU Regards, James.
To go with the flow, I am sharing FDC(sorry, Don't have his stamp, thought of sharing FDC as such instead of cropping) V V Giri India's 4th President. To know more about him, here is the wikipedia link https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/V._V._Giri
Park Chung Hee,general and long-time president of South-Korea. He ruled the country with an iron fist and was finally assessinated by his own secret service in 1979. This stamp, issued July 1st,1967,commemorates his inauguration into his second term as president.
President Park and Diori Hamani, the first president of Niger. President Park and President Sanchez of Salvador. Sanchez,a general (democraticly) elected, hold the presidency from 1967-1972.During his term Salvador and Honduras fought the so-called "Football-War" or "100 Hours War" in 1969. The stamp was issued on Sept.28th,1970.
As with so many stamps of South-Korea,the above stamp was also issued in souvenir sheets. The s.s. exists in two versions. Here the first "correct" version:
Hello all, I know that they are Prime Ministers, we've had this discussion before but they are elected heads of government. Regards, James.
