Hello all, looks as though nobody has posted on this theme for a while, so here are some stamps depicting our late Queen Mother. From my Royals Theme. Date of issue: 1985-06-07 Regards, James.
Very nice group James... I have a lot of Commonwealth with British royalty but have not organized them yet. Hope I have some of these!!
Hello SATX, I have a fair number of 'Royal' issues but I believe that there are more than 350 Queen mother 85th birthday issues alone! I only collect the 'Photo' issues.
That in itself is a worthy endeavor. I have started getting collections for those holdings I don't have and filling in holes on the rest. Still takes time to find the pieces though.
Presidents of Austria,II.Republic: Karl Renner 1945-1950 Theodor Körner 1950-1957 Adolf Schärf 1957-1965 Franz Jonas 1965-1974 Rudolf Kirchschläger 1974-1986 Kurt Waldheim 1986-1992 Thomas Klestil 1992-2004 Heinz Fischer (no stamp) 2004-2016
Wow, I like it, you created an interesting post here and very informative. Unfortunately, I don't have stamps with the presidents of my country because they never made stamps with their look. I contribute with something smaller as value!
Yesterday, special cover has been released by our current Prime Minister Modi to commemorate inauguration of memorial of late former President of India, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. He left us 2 years ago on 27th July. He is known as the Missile Man of India for his work on the development of ballistic missile and launch vehicle technology. This simple man left behind, 6 pants (2DRDO uniforms) 4 shirts (2DRDO uniforms) 3 Suits(1 Western, 2 Indian) 2500 books 1 flat (he has donated that too) 1 Padmashri award 1 Padmabhushan award 1 Bharat Ratna award 16 doctorates He didn't have any TV, AC, car, Jewellery, shares, land or bank balance. He donated his last 8 years pension towards development of his village. Though I yet to have the special cover, I thought of sharing this Great Man's stamp here.
Not a president,but perhaps you could start a thread with prime ministers. Here another president of China: President Tan Yen-kai stamp issued Jan.9th,1933,from a set of 4
Dr.Sun Yat-sen was the first provisional president of China after the abolition of the monarchy in 1912.He is revered by all today political parties in China as the founding father of the republic. Numerous stamps with his portrait exist,this one from a set of 5 commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Kuomintang. Issued Dec.25th,1944
A good way to honoured these past presidents and prime ministers.Can remember hearing about Margret Thatcher in high School then as an Iron Lady. It a good thing to have her on the country's stamp.
Mrs.Thatcher,like Abdul Rahman would not be at the right place in this thread.It is a thread showing presidents,i.e. heads of states from republics.Mrs.Thatcher was "only" head of the government. President Lin Sen; stamp issued Aug.1st,1945; from a set of 6;
