Hello all, the world knows Thailands capitol as Bangkok, but that is not its correct name, the Thais usually shorten its name to Krung Thep Maka Nakhon, or just Krung Thep. The city name in Thai is: กรุงเทพมหานครอมรรัตนโกสินทร์มหินทรายุธยามหาดิลกภพนพรัตนราชธานีบูรีรมย์อุดมราชนิเวศน์มหาสถานอมรพิมานอวตารสถิตสักกะทัตติยวิษณุกรรมประสิทธิ์ The English translation is: "Krung Thep Mahanakhon Amon Rattanakosin Mahinthara Ayuthaya Mahadilok Phop Noppharat Ratchathani Burirom Udomratchaniwet Mahasathan Amon Piman Awatan Sathit Sakkathattiya Witsanukam Prasit." How about that for a postal address, I think I'll stick to Bangkok! If you would like to hear the Thai name, please use this link. Old link no longer working. New link below, nice video, and Bangkok name as a song Regards, James
Agree on the "good Photoshop"... but he is still alive and the US has a "no live people" policy for modern-day stamps... easy to know this is a Cinderella.
That is DEFINITELY a stamp I will look for... He was right up there with the Queen as far as stamp collecting goes...
Hello all Hello, I have a set of these in the UK or maybe a partial set? 4 values? If I can access my machine this weekend I will upload an image. Regards, James.
Hello all, I've been lucky, my brother switched my PC on for the weekend, so I made a search and found my Roosevelt set. Regards, James.
Just uncovered a 4-block "Mint" in one of my boxes... was working the Prexies hard last week so I could tell what I needed to buy... one of my favorite sellers made me an offer I ALMOST couldn't refuse!!
Yes, I had a short period where I started to collect themes, presidents was one of the ones that dropped by the wayside! I've kept sailing ships, maps, fauna, motor vehicles, early aircraft, orchids and some royalty. The wayside themes will probably end up on EBay. Regards, James.
The theme president used to be very popular here and I think most collectors have some of those if they used to received local mails and bought some lot on a local collector's shop.
First, Kevin, welcome to the forum. I think that I only have these few "Winston" MNH stamps here with me. I'm sure that I have many more back in the UK. As usual scanned at 300 DPI in PNG format. Am I right in assuming that you are based in the USA? regards, James.
