The French pane is not a souvenir sheet, but a booklet pane. 345.000 booklets were printed. the Belgian sheets were printed in quantities of 625.884 and 613.973. The German s.s.,featuring anti-nazi resistance fighters is a curiosity. The sheet as a whole was not valid for postage, but the stamps were ! However nobody cared about that and letters with complete sheets were delivered without complaints. 6.941.000 were printed. Cancelled the s.s. costs about double of mint,n.h.

Thanks Don, really appreciate the number of sheets. Perhaps of further interest is the, in my opinion, least attractive Sov. sheet above.. Germany Issued it to Honor The German resistance July 20th 1964. As mentioned above,Scott catalogue notes that:" The stamps were valid, the sheet was not, though widely used". Those honored; S. Scholl- Member of the non-violent "White Rose" resistant group. L. Beck- German general never became a Nazi, resigned his commission becoming part of the resistance. D. Bonhoeffer- Lutheran pastor, theologian, anti-Nazi dissident. A. Delp- Jesuit priest, philosopher of the German resistance. K.F. Goerdeler- Conservative Monarchist, politician, civil servant opposed the Nazi regime. W. Leuschner- Social Democratic politician opposed the 3rd Reich. H.J.G.v Moltke- German jurist, drafted into the Abwebr bur acted to subvert human rights abuses in newly German occupied territories. C.S.G.v Stauffenberg- German officer of Nobility that lead the July 22nd assassination attempt on Hitler. ALL the above were put to death by the Nazis before the war ended. R.I.P. H.Golightly
