I was late for auction night at the stamp club but i managed to buy these, $2 for the scott 231s and train
MY FIRST BLUISH PAPER ARRIVED TODAY MY OPINION THIS WAS DONE ON PERPOSE NOT JUST BLUE RAGS ADDED TO THE PAPER,iTS MORE OF A GRAY VIOLET THEN BLUISH PAPER
To me the PSE-grading of such "modern" imperforated stamps looks senseless at best or perverted at worst. There are still plenty of units left of most "modern" US imperforates. So you just have to cut out the center stamp from a bloc of 9 or maybe from a corner-bloc of four or a selvage-bloc of 6 to produce such a graded-100 stamp. A such produced "rarity" means the destruction or at least damaging of the other stamps from the unit, where it was cut out. When people pay more for the graded-100 stamp, than an intact unit would cost,it is what I call a perversion.
This painting was done by Yuliya Zelinskaya In Russia I might make it into a Canadian stamp for her, This is a proto type and will likely change. This second one, I will have it made. She is on the stamp with another painting she has done.
When I first started collecting stamps my brother in law helped me and gave me this Scotts 1959 album with hundreds of stamps in it including this page I later did some research and marked in the bookwhat i may have found
I found this years later in a grab bag from my club, Note the reverse color. 917a used. Two have been found used on first day covers, im not sure if any with regular cancels have been found.
Yes. What it means is they were supposed to print the red and blue first then the black over it to give highlighted flag wrinkles, The error was they printed the black first and went over it with the blue and red, They corrected there mistake but some were sold. Not many were used just on first day covers. They also had blurred country names Miss spelling, lots of errors in this line off stamps.Would make an interesting study of multiple stamps. To really see the blue and red over the black click on the used one i scanned it at 1200, The black is dull looking behind the colors. Just sent for APS cert today.
O.K. Richard, now I understand.Barely visible on a scan. Obviously the printing of this set brought the printers to their limit. Michel notes, that many accidental faults of this series exist, what cannot get listed in the catalogue, but what are in demand by specialists, especially on letters. The Sc.328 looks like a changeling to me.
915a used Seigal census to date have only sold one used off cover certified by PF Another find at the club tonight. I was asked tonight, to write a journal on scott 231 and sell it at the club. If i sell these club finds after i have them expertise, i will donate the money back to the club.
