I collected all of these around 2010 Winter Olympics. I'm assuming nothing here is rare, but I'm really hoping there is at least 1 thing that is special. Here is the imgur link: http://m.imgur.com/ZStCJrT,iH8bYPN,lmf9osI
You are right, nothing rare or special. The only two of some modest value are the stamps from Liechtenstein
Ah, that is too bad. I do really like the Olympic Stamps though so those do have some personal value at least. What is special about the Liechtstein stamps? Is it just because it's from a different area?
Welcome Eduguy... I hope you have a wonderful experience here. Stamp worth is relative: you have financial worth, personal worth, collection worth, etc. What are you looking for? If you want 'one of everything' then auctions would probably be your best bet to fill the holes. If you are willing to deal with the holes, links to BidStart, as well as others may be able to get you on the Fast Track with their websites. Best, SATX
I was not looking for anything specific. I was just wondering about the value of these stamps so I could potentially trade them for more Olympic stamps. What are these sites you speak of? How do they work?
I don't have a catalog new enough to cover the Liechtenstein stamps but they tend to run about 50 cent to $1 US whereas the Canada are about 20 cents in a catalog. The actual value a dealer at a show would charge is about 1/2 of that. For trade you can think of the Canada stamps as one minimum value "unit" and the Liechtenstein as 2 to 4 "units" so you could trade the Liechtenstein for 2 to 4 common stamps each or one better stamp worth $1 to $2 in a catalog. I have a lot of missing stamps in my collection that are suppose to be only 25 cents in value but in 30 years I have never found them and would pay 5 times that to get one. As someone said above there is catalog value, dealer cost and there is value to a collector. they can all be quite different.
Welcome to the forum. Right that in auction sites, stamps can be valued higher depends on the bids. Trading it could also be a good option to get some that you prefer.
www.bidstart.com is the one I use the most often. Another is one run by the American Philatelic Society: www.stamps.org/StampStore I have seen others advocate others... look all over the forums for websites listed here.
