Hi 'Hochstrasse', Is that a surcharge of 30c with I seem to make out the Space Shuttle? That could be an added interest to someone.
I've got a whole range of denominated stamps between 3 cent up to the 44 cent'ers (just before they went 'forever'). There's always some combination of something like 37 + 5 + 5 for current rate. I'm holding onto the 15c se-tenant blocks until they get to 60c rate for 1 oz. postage - same with 18's and 20's, 'cause the stamp album printers seem to think I ought to have intact blocks as well as singles in my albums. I do have a used US collection with a fair number of blank spaces for blocks of se-tenant issues.
Hochstrasse: Nice covers, I enjoyed seeing them. Thanks for posting. Thanks, too, for posting the E-Com cover. It reminded me that somewhere I have one of those. I need to find it. Don
I find that Elephant postage label interesting as well. More boring in here cause it will be just date and time if you will not specifically mentioned to the postmaster that you would want a real stamp on your mail.
Hello Z, I suppose one could collect the Elephant postal labels, but I think that you would have to collect postcode regions. We have a five digit code system that always end with a zero and never begin with a zero. that would mean that there are a maximum possible 9000 codes, in reality there are far fewer than that, just 902. Postcodes here cover huge areas, our code for Hua Hin is 77110 with an area of 911 km² The label below is for Chumphon (city region) which I believe covers an area of 1,485 km². Chumphon State has an area of 6,009 km² divided into 8 districts and postcode areas. Regards, James.
I know that in Germany the stamps will always change and vary. This might be based on the long history of the country, such as other European countries that have already been mentioned here. The USA might not value stamps that much as they used to. Nowadays stamps are more simple and seem to have lost their value if they always look the same. However, I can imagine that it is linked to the financial crisis and that being more the focus...
