Dear All I have listed a few stamps at http://www.delcampe.net/stores/bionicbelly ( with more to follow ) I notice that I am attracting a number of views, but not as many slaes as I would hope for. It would be appreciated if some of you would give me somefeedback as to the fairness ( or otherwise ) of my pricing please Many Thanks David
David i have been over and had a peep, some seem a little high and a couple seem slightly low, but a note about selling stamps IMO--- if someone wants the stamp to finish off a set or year they will pay for it, i have done in the past a great looking stamp, well centered good perfs and clean cancel i have paid over the normal odds for because i wanted it, others may not have paid the same price though, sellling stamps is a strange game. i have put stamps up for auction thinking i would ge 1-2 pounds and ended up getting 50-60 and others i thought i would get plenty for have not sold or were snatched at the last min for pennies, it all depends on who is looking at the time you have yours up for sale or auction. i personally go for the auction, with a start price to cover the fees, both ebay and PayPal, then add 1p per stamp anything over that and i have got a bonus as far as i am concerned on another note i have just registered as i like the Caymen island MM you have and i will be bidding as soon as i get my password lol i am not sure if delcampe charge you for selling from your shop, but Catawiki do not and it is the same kind of layout for the selling part, and i know Catawiki email everyone who has a stamp you put in your shop if they have it in their wish list, might be worth a little play about with, if you need help with setting it up and how to add etc just send me a quick email i hope my little bit of knowledge and input helps
Hi David, I also had a look at your stamps and the good news is that what I looked at all had part cds which says a lot in your favour. The bad news is you are offering also common stamps and to be competitive need rock bottom prices to sell as most would have them looking for a better one or those that want a good cancel. So there may be a few other reasons for sales to slow. Once I made the effort to check all lots with bids against total bids of a Country or area on ebay it was 12%.of total bids (+-440 bids) which were the better days unlike now - need to be patient. Erich
Hello, Welcome to Delcampe It is always slow when start selling, for many reasons (fresh account with no feedbacks, no enough items on sale, etc) Wish you great sales for the future! Seb Delcampe
Hello, Indeed you have a litle more than 50 feedbacks, but as many you will have, as more confidence your buyers will have. My best advice for you now is: upload more items for sale. With 70 items among our 40 million, they are only a drop in an ocean Sebastien
What's with this platant advertising to one of our members via this afterall Exchange Site. If you have seemingly good advice a private message to the member would be more appropriate. Your privacy policy may not include public feedback but surely disrespectful toward one of your own members mentioning it here as a form of advertising which may be seen negative. And should you ask, no - I do not need to be admin nor a moderator to show response but you may want to rectify this misguidance as a mere member. Erich
Fully agree Philatelica, Must admit it makes me feel as if I am wasting my time with delcampe or atleast not appreciated. Perhaps I would be better listing on another site, especially one that does not charge commission for the first $200 per month or so.
Hello, These were only kind messages. I did not realize they would be so badly taken. So, I apologize, Bionicbelly if you have been hurt... Maybe it was a language mistake, because, I read again and again my messages and I do not see where the problem is. I just wanted to help you, as I do with many people on many forums. Nothing more. I wish you great sales, wherever your items are uploaded. Sebastien Delcampe
OK folks lets draw a line under this, I do not think that Sebastian intended to upset any one nor do I think he was trying to advertise and he has apologised ok so Please no more posts on this
Jeeez and I was hoping to get commission free for the next 5 years -- sob sob No offence taken Sebastian, but one has to be careful
I have had a look David and you have some nice stamps. People can be funny though and everything is about first impressions and image. The thing that struck me is that your humourous nickname may not convey serious business sense to some prospective buyers. Please do not be upset, but have you considered shortening it to simply 'Bionic'? Of maybe something with a more direct reference to stamp collecting? This is just a thought and if you ignore me, no harm done.....x
Yep, thought of lots of names - Delcampe wont let me change it, and I have nevr got round to changing it on Ebay Regretfully BB was a nickname from way back when - and was a laugh when I first used it on Ebay If this were a serious Philatelic business, then i would not be so flippant, but alas I have to work for a living. You are right though - the wife moans at me constantly and is quite emabbrased when some one rings and asks of Bionicbelly So competition time folks - a new name please. Must be appropriate to a 20st fat git Philatelist, roofing Consultant, with two grandchildren a nutty dog , nagging wife and a summerhouse for n office. Best name selected by the Mods wins the stamp below ( I know what this stamp is , do you ? ) ( are you happy to be Judges Mods ?? )
Ill keep my thinking cap on for a new screen name! Is it a post office training cancel on a KGVI 6d marginal definitive? Feel free to correct me on any misuse of terms, I'm still learning!
Nothing wrong with your screen name David, when I buy stamps or coins etc on line I am looking at the feedback and the quality not the sellers name, a posh official sounding name can be a con just as a silly name can be a damn good dealer. You can add to this that a catchy name will be rememberd
[quote="You are right though - the wife moans at me constantly and is quite emabbrased when some one rings and asks of Bionicbelly"/quote] I think it may very well be a male/female reservation David if your wife finds it inappropriate too, pleased you took my advice in the spirit to which it was intended. My suggestion for your trading name is 'Avid Stamps'. Do you see what I did there? You are an avid collector and your name is David.
Smack on about the stamp Equinox -- It is indeed a Post Office training Stamp As for my entry ( to win my own stamp ) "Shedloadsa Stamps "
Come on Folks - we need more entries to make the Mods earn their corn or does no one want the training stamp ??
