The prohibition on mailing contraceptive articles or items containing ads for contraceptives was lifted today in 1971. I had never heard that there was a ban on this. Of course, I was only 11 in 1971.

Our postmen still deliver by walking or using bikes now but up until recently they would depend on hitchhiking lifts from strangers...I think the post office finally felt that was dangerous and allowed bikes for travel to get the post to the destination in the same week.
