    Seems the spammers are overwhelming us here, looks like it's time for a significant update of our infrastructure. I'm going to try to schedule this for tomorrow.

    Yes the Russian spammers are getting bad on a lot of forums. We had 42 new members the other day on a forum I help moderate every one a spammer! They will thin out when they figure out they won't get paid!

    Actually, I don't think they will thin out. I believe that this is all bot driven, and it takes them no more time to spam 1 more forum than the other 50,000 forums they have in their list. Once a forum is in the list, the only recourse is to change the technology to avoid the bots.

    Bear in mind the new look would result in me needing new specticles or are these swent out to the active members ?

    I hope that's a good thing! Kind of what I was aiming for, it will make it easier to keep it up and running here (and the spammers out) with some consistency.

    It sure will make the load a little less on you with the same forum software. In the time I have been on CT and posting in the exonumia thread I have found it easy to use.

    Well just found and reported a number of guest spammers that had slipped thru in the past month or so. I went back two pages of threads in each forum and any that were non English with links or the off the wall nonsensical comment spam were reported!

    I have tried to report all those spam posts too and nice that it may not happen again. :)

    Thanks for the reports. I wouldn't say it will never happen again, it's like an arms race, now we're one step ahead of the spammers. It's not a question of "if" they'll catch up, but "when" they'll catch up.

    Yes, I do think it's a good thing. ( I don't see a "quote" button, so I cut and pasted...it's probably there - I miss stuff sometimes! )
