Value for any particular stamp can be stated as a catalogue value, wholesale value or retail value. That boils down to what someone else is willing to pay for it. A dealer is going to pay significantly less since he/she has to make a profit. A catalogue value is a guide and many time doesn't represent a true value. Certain stamps can be tracked on Ebay by seeing what someone is willing to pay for it. Minimum value stamps can't be tracked like that since they are never sold outside of sets or small lots. I am not a collector of Thai stamps so I could not tell you what the catalogue value is, but we do have lots of collectors here that could give you one.
This is the top-value (although not the most expensive of the set) of Sc.no.764-71,Mi.no.783- 90,from Nov.18th,1975. Provided it is a mint, never hinged stamp, without any flaws, you will have to pay for it about US-$ 10.-. If you want to sell it,you probably might get $ 3.- to 5.-.
James... chime in. One 'value' that was not listed by Hoch is whether the stamp means anything to YOU!! Are you setting up a topical, country, etc type of collection? Or are you just trying to increase value for some other reason? I LIKE Thai stamps, but I am not going all out to find them... I have other 'focus' points in my collection. So like Werner said, value is X but what does it mean to a true topical collector? I have bid above catalogue value for something I REALLY wanted!!!!
Hello JudyD, my current Thai catalogue lists the 6 baht Royal Barge as 330 THB $9.37 at todays exchange rate. I would normally buy at the stamp bourse at a maximum of 10* face value. IE 60 THB ($1.70) or 3 THB for a fine used copy. I have full set MNH and used copies. Regards, James.
Actually, I am very interested in Asian stamps. Anything from the Far East. However, I didn't do my research in geography, and just assumed Thailand is part of the Far East? All of the stamps I have been looking at from China, Japan, Indonesia are ALL so beautiful, so colorful! So my next collection will be an Oriental one. Thank you, James, for sharing this page--those are some gorgeous examples.
Hello JudyD, strictly speaking Thailand is part of south east asia. If you need information I have fairly recent catalogues for China and S.E.A countries. Also India pre 1912. However I am returning to the UK in a week and it is unlikely that I will take the catalogues with me. You can always try Colnect.com, it is quite a good source of online information. Regards, James.
Hello all, some of the latest offers from Thai post. 2016 Songkran festival 5 baht (100-250 gm national letter rate) 2016 Thai - Indonesia joint issue 3 baht (20-100 gm national letter rate) Regards, James.
wow, these Asian stamps are fascinating! I used to collect stamps as a kid and now I am married to a stamp collector. As far as I know, you would have to check into international stamp collection books that provide valuable information about their value. Then you could also contact stamp experts in your area who know more about them. Of course, they would also need to have some knowledge about Asia or specifically Thailand.
Hello all, another source for Thai stamp information. Some years and pages are difficult to find because they are misnumbered or misdated. http://www.siamstamp.com/catalogue/index.php?id=1089 Regards, James
Hello Sahara, first, welcome to the forum. I normally ask new members what do you collect? ww, country, themes? And in what part of the world are you based please? Regards, James.

Hello Mahesh, Welcome to the forum. You say that have a small collection of stamps coins and first day covers from 1960-1980. Which countries do you collect? Do you specialize or collect themes? It would be good if you can scan some of your stamps and show them on the forum. Regards, James.
