i often read of those who inherited stamps from some one and have no idea what to do with them and once they begin the research to sell they will find something that holds their interest.... at times i read about those who were started by a family member or a group activity (such as Boy Scouts) me i really really needed a way to keep from taking the house over with fish tanks LOL.... i have kept fish for a few years and have had up to 10 tanks running at once.... the last (very very expensive) tank i truly enjoyed was my salt water tank and it was such a task that it ended up with its own credit card LOL.... to much money to much time (more on this later) and far far to many things that can go wrong .. not to mention limitations to our schedule and the ability to take vacations..... so i got thinking and recalled that i had a few stamps put away that were sent to me years ago when i was away from home.... and decided to look into the possibility of collecting... after finding a few forums and some articles i was on my way!!! now i have the whole family into it and this means LOTS of fun!!! we have a number of people we trade with around the world and have made some incredible connection
Started as a boy along with coins (always had a interest in history and far away places) then lost interest in my teens LOL Picked the bug up again many years later
I started during high school years. It was first just a project to collect some and then it become a hobby to me. Some of my classmates just gave me their stamps projects after it was returned. I am not an active collector, just collecting if there is an opportunity.
