I'd like to say some things about myself. I've been stamp collecting on and off since I was 6. I'm 24 now, and times have changed. When I was little I didn't know a thing about stamp collecting, I just took the stamp and glued it to a paper book that I made. Now I have a dryer book and I soak my stamps and I have a huge collection of stamps to go through and I have a collection of first day covers and I have some damaged stamps that I need to get rid of because the stamps aren't damaged it's the sides of the plates that are damaged. I need to research how much these things are worth and I want to join the philatelic society and volunteer. I would like that. I live in Alamo City and I once went to a stamp store there and I don't know where it is anymore and I can't return. Hopefully someone here can point me in the right direction.
I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying their hobbies. Talk to you soon.

Greetings Christa. I am new here as well. Everyone is friendly and helpful so ask any questions you may have.

As far as stamp stores, there are not as many as there used to be. The internet seems to be the place to shop now.

Alamo City as in San Antonio?

About the damaged stamps... I send my "not ready for prime time" stamps to local stamp clubs or other places where some kids don't have the money to buy the real deal. They will never realize any great monetary value from them as they are of a condition where a good eye will find the faults, but these 'space fillers' still have bragging rights when in the right hands.

Welcome to the group and will watch for your replies.
