I was browsing through my old albums and I came across a page with stamps with the theme Hands on Stamps. Anyone got some interesting stamps with hands?
Fascinating! A topical I would have never considered. Perhaps a hand surgeon collected them? Thank goodness it wasn't a proctologist!
Another one with hands, this one celebrates Children's day. In India, Children's day is celebrated each year on 14th Nov. It also marks the occasion of the first Prime Minister of independent India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. Nehru's love for children was how Children's day in India got to be commemorated. Of course, with the political scenario changing, it is unlikely to be celebrated going forward. Or maybe the date will change to delink it from Nehru, who knows...
It is an mirror-image of Albrecht Dürer´s "Betende Hände".An ink-drawing from 1608.(Albertina Vienna)

U.S. stamp commemorating the game of basketball created in 1891 by James Naismith, a Canadian who moved to the U.S. He was educated as a physician and ended up being Athletic Director at Kansas University, which, coincidentally, is one of the perennial powerhouses in U.S. college basketball. Don
Makanudo: No, I'm not much of a sports fan -- don't have the patience to watch a whole game or match, be it baseball, basketball (a game for giants), tennis or football. If I were forced to watch a complete game, I would choose soccer. A soccer match is as close as I come to having a favorite sport. My wife, however, likes basketball and football, and baseball depending on which teams are playing. Just today she called me while she was out shopping and told me to be sure and record the women's basketball game at the Olympics, Spain vs the U.S. Don
US won that match. I watched. Congrats! Tomorrow US plays Serbia in mens basketball final. I hope we make your guys play their best.
Makanudo: I'll root for Serbia. I don't know about the other world teams, but the U.S. uses professional basketball players on its team, which I don't think is fair play. Don
Don, All the sports today are professional. Especially basketball and soccer. It just happens that US has the best quality pro league, so its all fair in my opinnion. NBA has been an inspiration for all the worlds basketball and its always honour to play against those guys. Players play. Money dont.
