    Hi all,
I just picked up a nice lot of 25 different Greenland town cancels 1950's era on piece. I'm having trouble finding a source of what town cancels were available then....There's not THAT many towns in Greenland so I'm hoping to start a decent part of my Greenland collection.
ANY ideas finding the information? I tried Google "town cancels Greenland," but no joy.

    Thanks in advance
    Jim

Hello Jim, here is a crossreferenced list from the two websites.
All you have to is to add your town cancels to the last column.
    Pituffik - not found

Sorry Jim, I couldn't see how to attach an excel file so I've converted it to a PDF.
If you want the Excel file, e-mail me, my address is on the PDF.

This is a list of 74 cities, towns and settlements in Greenland with populations between 16,454 (Nuuk) and Qassimiut with a population of 22.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_cities_and_towns_in_Greenland

This should narrow the field a little. I doubt if they all have a post office.

    Regards, James

Tele-Post is part of Tele-Greenland A/S which operates the postal system in Greenland. I found a link of their current postal centers. It might be a good start at matching some of the cancellations with post offices.

Thanks guys!!! These two links really help. Twenty five out of 74 sounds like a good start for the cancels :)

I have a good number of Greenland pages some reflecting on Post Offices open or closed, notes are in German some in Danish with post marks and occasional stamp or pc.

Some Towns: Narssaq - Nanortalik - Niaqornarssuk -Claushavn - Nugatsiaq - Nuussuaq - Kap Dan - Iekerasasuaq - Kangeq - Angissoq etc.

    Shippost and other unpronouncable Towns.
Some pages are stuck together but will seperate them.

If interested send a private message to negotiate for the lot.

Wow, thanks James and Philactica. Great help. My German is nonexistent but I'm sure that I'll find some nuggets there.
