If anyone is interested in swapping some canceled GB commemoratives for like from America, please give me a nod?
i am very interested in swapping you can see my USA collection in the gallery, this will show what i am mssing both used and UMM i have quite large GB duplicate album mostly older up to 2004, but i can get the new sets and have them cancelled (pre cancelled) to ensure a nice cancellation, and never actually posted of this would interest you? looking forward to a nice long exchange partnership
I had noticed that too, about few Americans here. Most of you are British, then there's me - the lone "colonial" (as my dad calls us - hes English too) from Canada. I wondered if it indicated a greater interest in the hobby in UK than Britain. That said, I'll put a call out on Twitter and G+ for Americans to join and that you're looking for swapping opportunities, Steve. I'll let you know if I hear anything back.
I wondered if it indicated a greater interest in the hobby in UK than Britain. UK is the defunct name for Britain Sarah. When the four countries were indeed united and had a King. Ireland wages war on England constantly and is not part of Britain. Most English people now refer to themselves as English, but British is okay as Britain has existed since the norman conquests. UK is used on the net, but I think this is because it is shorter, not because it is accurate. On some sites UK stamps are advertised, there are no such thing, there are British stamps, and then regional stamps which are not English.
Jay, Tom D, Sam B, we wish to do some swapping for American stamps; Steve L and I , if you read this please message us?
I'd be willing to give an exchange or two a try. I'm looking for just about any used GB after year 1996 (defin's and commem's) and a few of the higher value commem's from the 1980's onward. Examples of what I'm looking for: 1982 19-1/2p Adm B. Triumph 1983 20-1/2p Royal Fusiliers 1984 34p Language & libraries 29p bush cricket 34p dragonfly 34p sea picture 1985 34p signal buoy 29p charlie chaplin 34p a. hitchcock What can I offer? Mostly older US (1930's thru to 1980's) with occasional recent. Or, I'd even exchange current MINT US for some of the higher value used GB. The trouble with current US stamps is that (1) fewer people are using them for postage anymore (supplanted by e-mail), and (2) self-adhesives are a pain in the arse (I believe that is the proper English terminology) to separate from the envelopes. Mint US before 1920 are expensive and hard to come by, and used US after 2000 are just hard to come by. I've done exchanges with Steve Logan before, but his medical issues kinda took him out of the loop, and we've not reconnected (yet) for any more exchanges.
Please privately message me your email address so we can start dealing. As you are not on here that much. Thanks.
I have had some great exchanges with Larry, I do believe I still owe from the last batch that was sent before I became ill? I did leave a message about newer issues Larry as i can get them cancelled but not posted i wondered if these would interest you at all?
Looks like we have finally make the all important contact Steve. I shall be looking at what I have to suit you Larry.
i have had a great many stamps from Larry and he has boosted my USA collection no end, it is my turn now to get some back to him, just need him to answer my question above and if he is happy with precancelled i will get some bought and sent out if not i will still buy them and stick them on paper and cancell myself then post and he can take off paper at his end, i am just not very good at getting stamps off paper i damage more than i save lol
it is not artificial lol i know the guy in the post office i cancell tyhem myself with his machine i have to give it back when i am done and i am not allowed to take it out of the PO it just ensures i get the cancellation where i want it
That is so good of him. When I went to my local post office and asked to do the same I was told that even in the local offices they do not have the cancellation stamp any more? It would seem that the GPO is leaning toward horizon and do not wish to be bothered with stamps. Have you gained that impression?
yes i have to agree the main post office huff and puff if i ask for a selection of different value stamps lucky for me i have been using my local post office for years so he orders all new sets every release for me as he knows i always have 2 sets one mint and the other i cancell he also keeps by any new defins and has them ready for me to choose from when i go in, i always buy them lol
Mr Bickerstone please be sure to post some of your best American stamps on MLA as Steve and I are currently looking for them?
Sorry - I fade in and out with the seasons, and as winter approaches, I now have more time inside and fewer teaching responsibilities. OK - I'm still up for trading US for just about whatever. I'm willing to trade used US (1930's to 1990's), mint (about the same date range), & plate blocks if y'all are still interested. I've got a bunch of foreign to 'unload' too. Literally hundreds of commemorative stamps from countries like Spain, Germany, France, Netherlands, Japan, Italy, Sweden, Japan, Austria. Also have some British commonwealth (Cyprus, Malta, carribean islands, New Zealnad, Aussie, Hong Kong, India). I guess I could start by posting some 'jpg's or sending them directly to your e-mail,
If you're up to it, yeah, let's resume exchanges. Stamps don't need to be cancelled. It's just that I feel a little guilty putting them in my foreign collection with hinges on the back and ruining an otherwise MNH stamp. Oh well. I'm still looking for virtually any stamp issued by Great Britain over the last 10 years, cancelled or otherwise. And where did we leave off (what year) on the US mint I was sending to you Steve?
the above is nonsense. All United Kingdom stamps are valid in England,Scotland,Wales and Northern Ireland
